The Western Region track and field meet was a few weeks back (you know, the one that Kevin had to qualify for) and I had the opportunity to fly out with Kevin's parents and Janelle to be there to watch the whole meet. The weather was perfect while we were there which made for a great weekend getaway and amazing running conditions.
The meet was held in "track town" Eugene, Oregon at the Historic Hayward Field
Kevin's 400m hurdle race wasn't his best, so he didn't qualify for the NCAA (national) meet, but his 4x4 relay team did!
Here are a few pictures from the meet:
You probably can't see it very well but those electronics signs say
Men 400 Meter Hurdles
8-Ahlstrom
After all of the racing we did a little nature walk at a nearby park that banked a large river that ran through Eugene. Oregon is the greenest (and by green I mean tree, plant, etc. filled, not eco-friendly, which they are too but you know what I mean) place I've ever been and it was seriously amazing, I loved it. The park was filled with hundreds of geese, ducks and cranes. Kevin went wild with his camera (you know how he is with that thing) and took some great shots.
Here are a few:

This one actually wasn't at the park, but the sky was gorgeous!
Oregon was beautiful, but now we're off to Fayettville, Arkansas (anyone heard of it?) for the National meet where the boys will run the 4x4 relay. Arkansas should be interesting...stay tuned for our adventures in the south.
