Kevin's birthday was last Wednesday and we had a subtle celebration, just the two of us.
First stop: Pioneer Books, a cute little local cafe/used bookstore. Kevin's a reader, give him a couple of books for his special day and he's an extremely happy man (there it is again: man). Anyway, he has been wanting to get his hands on some classics so we stopped in to see what we could find. It was a success; he was in heaven, literally. The place was covered floor to ceiling with books, it was amazing. He left with: 1984, Don Quixote, and Moby Dick... exciting, right? It's okay, I ask why too.
After the bookstore we were off to Sammy's-- the best burgers in town and Kevin's absolute favorite place (besides J-Dawgs). He asks to go there at least once a week so it was no surprise that he chose Sammy's over any other place.

After Sammy's we came home and spent the rest of the night reading one of his new books, not something that I would do on my birthday, but what can I say...the man was excited and jumped right into The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn-- another book he got for his birthday. I'm not going to lie...I fell asleep :/
But what about the cake? Ice cream? balloons? Happy Birthday Song? Thhhhhat was for Friday: the birthday bash.
On Friday we we got wild and crazy celebrating Kevin's birthday with a few of our friends at our place. We had the best (if I do say so myself) chocolate cake, ice cream, candles, and even sang a little birthday song.
Oh! and I can't forget the pumpkins. Yes, there were pumpkins. Each couple had their go at carving pumpkins and I gotta say, these people were pro pumpkin carvers.
Pumpkin guts, hence the wild and crazy part.
Kevin designed and carved our pumpkin, it was just your traditional looking pumpkin.

BUT, Drew got really creative and carved our good friend: Dwight
All of the pumpkins turned out amazing and we had such a fun time. Thanks to all of our friends for celebrating with us.
note the Dwight finished product on the right
