NO-blog-vember

Somehow November got away from me and our blog went unattended. Thinking back I guess we were busy but when it comes down to it, I was just lazy and time flies when you're having fun.

November sure was fun and we owe it all to mother nature. In the middle of the month we took an early weekend and headed down to Moab for a little camping adventure. Camping in November, crazy right? But, I gotta say, it was the most cold and fun I've ever had.

When we got there Friday afternoon we were starving and desperate for food so we stopped at a little dinner that claimed to have the best green chili in Utah. Turns out it did and it was the best diner food we've EVER had, no joke. So good! Or maybe we were just hungry. Food does always taste better when you're camping.

After the diner we headed out to conquer the trails of Arches National Park. To be honest I didn't know what to expect and wasn't really that excited but when we got there I was floored. My senses were on cloud 9-- the view was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was completely and utterly surreal, like we were in Africa or something. You get my amazement, right? I could go on and on about it.

Arches had so many amazing things to see but we were losing daylight so we had to keep our sight-seeing to a minimum.
Here I am, a happy-camper on cloud 9.

Our first sight was the Window. From the beginning of the trail-head it looked pretty small:

but as we got closer it became huge. I was amazed.

After the Window we headed over to Delicate Arch where the trail was marked with these little rock towers that lead us to our final destination.

I was out of breathe pretty much the whole time but it was totally worth it. The ginormous rock formation at sunset was incredible.

After Arches we drove around to find a place suitable to setup camp. We found a spot and got busy trying to start a fire. Needless to say it took us about an hour in the dark to find wood and start a fire (our two Eagle Scouts were pretty much useless). We were in the middle of nowhere and the only humans for a good 15-mile radius. I say humans because there were definitely other creatures creeping around--we were all terrified.

The night was long. Highlights included waiting four hours for Mark and Libby to come with our sleeping bags, Kerri's bomb potato cheese soup, and Kevin's peach cobbler that he's still talking about.

The next morning we packed up and headed out to mountain bike Slick Rock. I gotta say it was the best four hours of terror and thrill that we've ever had. Of course I looked like a dumb-dumb-twelve year old in my rad skater helmet, but it was so worth it.

Kevin, on the other hand looked legit and professional.

We loved mountain biking we can't wait to go back.

On the way home we stopped at Canyonlands National Park to see the sun set over a gorgeous canyon river.

So there you have it, a single post full of pictures and commentary to make up for the whole month.

ps. did i mention that i HATE blogger when it comes to uploading pictures?
