Since the Last time we Wrote pt. 2

We shed a few tears and felt unfulfilled...

We sat in silence staring at the wall on the other side of the room as a bajillion things ran through our heads. Then Kevin broke the silence with "if only's" and "there goes my chance at (insert top 10 school)," completely doubting everything. EV-REE-THING.

His pessimism started to annoy me and brought me to raise my voice and talk way too fast; turning his negatives into positives. It didn't seem fair to throw all of our hope away because of this bump in the road; certainly NOT after all the hard work Kevin had done.

And to be honest his score wasn't even bad. In hindsight this is all sort of comical to us now because we ended up with more options than we know what to do with. Sure, his goal score was pretty lofty but nothing impossible. Although setting goals and expecting the best from himself proved to help while studying, he refused to accept anything but his goal score. And that was the problem; hence the aforementioned dramatic freak-out.

Anyway, two hours had passed and we were still on the couch crunching numbers via lawschoolnumbers.com (they say law school admissions is all about the numbers: LSAT/GPA) and discussing "what ifs." I had a good feeling about our situation but Kevin was still pretty down. Nothing seemed to get his mind off of it all. He gave me the notorious blank-stare-i'm-thinking-about-something-else-while-you-talk-to-me treatment for the rest of the night.

So we decided to called it a night. And to my surprise, Kevin was out in his usual 30 seconds so there was no sleep lost. I was relieved to hear his heavy breathing.

It was over. I knew things could only get better.

And it did! We headed down to Moab for the weekend to camp and hike. There's nothing a warm campfire and stars can't do to make you appreciate life.

Just pretend my eyes are open.

  1. Love, drama, LSAT scores - this story has all the elements of a great movie or book!

  2. Will this series end with your school decision perhaps? I'm dying to know the latest news! (How did Kevin do when he retook the test? Shoot, am I giving things away?)

Also, I'm so jealous of your Moab trip! We were just talking the other day about how fun it was when we went with you guys.
