Cinco do Mayo(stache)

We're always up for an excuse to throw a party, especially when it's Mexican themed.  And it's an added  bonus when the weather is prime for grilling and outdoor lounging.

So, naturally we invited our besties over to celebrate.  We threw some flank stake (err, carne asada) and chicken on the grill and did up a burrito/taco bar chock full of all the right fixings for a create-your-own-(insert favorite mexican food here) a la Cafe Rio.

I tried to be festive an overachiever by offering a non-alcoholic mojito-- there's something about the sound of a mojito that screams PAR-TAY! So I made some.  Since I had never actually had one before, I had no idea what it was supposed to taste like... and to be honest, my only experience with "mixed drinks" are the strawberry daiquiris from poolside resorts.  I fully expected it to taste like a limeade version of the daiquiris from vacation. Wrong. It was pitiful.  Maybe alcohol really does offset the taste of anything that tastes like poison.

Virgin or not, the mojitos must have had an effect because all the boys were hyped and decided to draw Crayola mustaches on their faces.

Anyway, we spent the rest of the night in our front yard, talking on our porch, playing frisbee, and lounging on the grass.

I wasn't thrilled about the mosquito bites I got all over my legs, but that only means one thing: summa time!
