Due to the glorious President's Day holiday, we had a three day weekend this past weekend. It's always such a treat to have a day off and Kevin and I definitely took full advantage of it.
Aside from sleeping in,doing a little homework, and relaxing we made the trek up the canyon to Solider Hollow. For those of you who don't know, Soldier Hollow is a cross country skiing resort that also offers an amazing tubing hill. Of course we did the tubing. We left when the sun was going down in the late afternoon and when we got there it was completely dark (don't worry, the hill is well lit with light). We arrived to a nearly deserted hill and the most unfriendly, operating attendants you could imagine.
We paid our fair in the lodge and continued on to the conveyer belt that towed us up the hill on our tubes. Kevin went up first and I followed behind. Except, it wasn't as smooth as I had anticipated...the guy hooked up my tube and started the conveyer before I could sit down. So if you can imagine, the tube took off up the hill as I chased behind it slipping and sliding on the icy snow trying to catch up with it After a while, I caught up and spastically jump half way on and managed to hang on and situate myself for the rest of the ride up. I was so irritated!! The boy working the conveyer belt just watched me and laughed :(
Anyways, we got to the top, where we swapped tube straps and went down together. Kevin went down head first on his belly, sounds fun...right? Well, it turns out that his tube shifted directions and he ended up going down feet first (backwards) on his belly, haha. The whole time he was screaming "Turn me around... I cant see where I'm going!" It was pretty funny. (Here we are at the bottom)
And to top off the night we went to Starbucks for some hot chocolate (hazelnut to be exact). It was perfect!
